Specialized Care Tailored for Your Unique Journey as Intended Parents

Based in Lakewood, Ohio — traveling nationwide and internationally for intended parents

Bringing your baby home after a surrogacy journey is one of the biggest days of your life, and it's normal for the travel part to feel like the scary part. You've waited months, sometimes years, for this baby. The last thing you want is to be figuring out feeding schedules and diaper changes in an airport terminal with no idea what you're doing.

That's what I'm here for. I'm Lisa, a certified Newborn Care Specialist, Postpartum Doula, and Lactation Counselor, and for the past several years I've focused almost entirely on surrogacy families — traveling to wherever your baby is born and getting all three of you home safely, whether that's a four-hour drive or a flight across the world.

What does a travel newborn care specialist do for surrogacy families?

Short version: I handle the newborn care part of the trip so you can handle the "I just became a parent" part.

That means I plan the logistics with you ahead of time, I'm there at the hospital when the baby arrives, and then I travel home with you — by car, plane, or train — managing feeding, diapering, soothing, and safety the entire way. You focus on bonding with your baby. I focus on everything else.

Before you travel: planning that actually prevents problems

We'll go through your travel plan together — where you're headed, how long you'll be there, and how you're getting home — so nothing gets left to chance.

    • A packing list that's actually specific to your situation. Not a generic checklist off Pinterest — one built around your baby's age, your feeding plan, and your travel method.

    • A game plan for wherever you're staying, whether that's a hotel for a few days before you fly or a straight shot home from the hospital.

    • Answers to the "what if" questions most intended parents don't think to ask until they're already anxious about them.

At the birth location: hands-on care from the first hours

I can travel to the birth location and be there in the hospital or birth center as soon as your baby arrives.

    • I provide direct newborn care in those first fragile days — feeding support (whether that's working with your surrogate on early breastfeeding or getting bottle feeding dialed in), diapering, bathing, and keeping a close eye on your baby's health and vitals.

    • I stay in close contact with the medical team, so if there's a term or instruction that isn't clear, I can translate it for you in real time instead of you googling it at 2am.

    • My role is focused entirely on you and your baby. I'm not there to provide care to your surrogate, though I'm always glad to support her with things like breastmilk questions if that's part of your plan together.

The trip home: the part most families dread most

This is where a lot of families tell me they were the most nervous — and where having someone experienced makes the biggest difference.

I travel home with you, by car, plane, or train, and I'm hands-on with your baby the entire way: feeds, diaper changes, soothing a baby who's overwhelmed by a new environment, all of it. If we're flying, I help manage the airport chaos and the baby gear so you're not doing it solo. If we're driving, I'm in the back seat handling everything the baby needs so you can actually watch the road, not the car seat mirror.

My longest trip home so far was Hong Kong, with newborn twins. Wherever your baby is born, I'll figure out how to get all of you home safely.

About Lisa

I've spent thirty years working with families in one capacity or another, and the last sixteen-plus of those specifically as a newborn care specialist and postpartum doula. I'm also a certified lactation counselor, a pediatric sleep consultant, and a Board-Certified Holistic Health Practitioner.

Surrogacy is where my heart is. Helping intended parents plan for — and actually get through — the trip home with their baby is the work I care about most.

"Lisa was an absolute lifesaver. We are so honored and delighted that she was able to help us on our journey. Not only did she and her team help me, but they also helped our surrogate with breastmilk and any questions that we both had. It was so nice to be able to catch up on a little sleep, knowing her team was so professional. And of course, having Lisa fly home with us was an incredible relief and pleasure! I highly recommend Lisa to anyone who has questions, needs support, or needs to travel."
